Er okay, since I've finished my PMR (major public exam), I'm actually pretty free now. But not free enough to go and take more pictures.

I'm seriously contemplating a DSLR but I'm not quite sure what to buy.

I'm half for a Nikon d90 (because it's got pretty good reviews and it's affordable enough) but people are like..."CANON".

So do tell me any models that you think are great or whether I should just go for the Nikon d90. Thanks!

What's your budget? I might be able to give a few suggestions.
:iconally-lovesj:
er..RM 5000. I have no idea what the exchange rate is though. Probably 1000 USD?
:iconwoshipreston:
I'm from Malaysia too. no exchange rate? haha.
Rm 5000, erm.. Nikon D90 or Canon 500D, and you can have money to buy a good enough lens. Kit lens don't do well.
:iconally-lovesj:
Guess what, those two are my exact choices which I'm debating between. Why do kit lens not do well?
:iconwoshipreston:
It's not that they don't do well. It's that you can produce better pictures with a better lens. you won't wear out the lens as quickly.

Well, here's the thing. D90- rm4188 (market price) 500D - rm 3488
You see the difference? Canon 500D should be compared with the D5000. If you want to go for better dslr, D90, if you wanna get something like 500D, it needs a good lens to exploit it's high resolution, which you can buy with the money left. It's you choice.

ahhhh, I see. Wow, thanks for the information. Much easier to explain the d90 to my mum. :D

So, my roommate owns a Nikon D90. Mine is the Canon 450D. But as far as I can judge both are great. Canon is in my opinion a little more compatible to other stuff than Nikon...
